Feng Shui for Business

Feng shui (pronounced "fung shway") marries art and science, analysis and intuition, construction and design, through a combined study of space, color astronomy, ergonomics, physics, mathematics, and philosophy. Originating in China and refined over 6,000 years of development, the practice of feng shui has traveled to every continent, and its use in architectural and interior planning in the United States is becoming more commonplace, particularly in cities with a progressive outlook. Feng shui practitioners study an environment and the individuals in it to carefully map the nature and flow of energy through buildings and spaces. The goal of a feng shui consultation is to help direct the flow of positive energy, or "qi" (pronounced "chi") to achieve a harmonious balance for its inhabitants. As the barriers of understanding between East and West dissolve, particularly in the medical and physical sciences, a shared understanding of qi - called in the West by other names like current, or energy, or in Indian cultures, "Prana", or life force energy, has helped clarify the practical merits of attending to the flow and presence of qi in a business environment.
The art and science of feng shui are complicated and difficult to master, but a qualified feng shui practitioner can provide solutions that are often very simple to employ. A space said to have "good feng shui" is a space that is inviting, comfortable and engages the people who work and dwell in it. This is a space that enhances and supports a business's well being, desires and goals directly impacting the company’s bottom line. Good feng shui energizes and encourages creativity, focused work, higher morale, and greater harmony among individuals.

Situations in which a feng shui consultation is requested include:
  • Selection of a site for the construction of a new facility
  • Review of architectural plans for a new facility
  • Redesign of an existing facility
  • Reorganization of people within a facility
  • Desire to establish a tangible representation of a new business strategy,
    work process, or management principle.
